If you’re planning to study abroad, choosing between the SAT and ACT is an important early step. Both are accepted by most universities, but their structure and focus are different. Here's a quick guide to help you decide.
The SAT includes Reading, Writing & Language, and Math sections. It emphasizes reasoning, algebra, and problem-solving, and lasts around 2 hours 14 minutes.
The ACT includes English, Math, Reading, and a unique Science section. It’s more fast-paced and covers more geometry and data analysis. It takes about 2 hours 55 minutes (excluding the optional Writing section).
SAT is scored out of 1600, while ACT uses a 36-point scale.
Good at data analysis and quick thinking? Try the ACT.
Prefer deep reasoning and a calmer pace? SAT may suit you better.
Targeting a specific university? Check if they have a test preference (most accept both).
