Even though having just a great score couldn’t guarantee admission to the concerned college or course, there are certain criteria looked up by the institution while selecting their wards.

The answer to this question is contingent upon various factors, like the colleges and programs one plans to apply to, but barring extreme case scenarios the following are pretty much the rules of the thumb.

Students applying for Bachelors program (After 12th High School): Ideally – immediately after passing 10th grad. Minimum – 6 months prior to the intended semester of enrollment.
Post Graduate (Masters) Programs: Ideally – during the 3rd year of the Bachelor’s Program. Minimum – 6 months prior to the intended semester of enrollment.
MBA: Ideally 12-18 months prior to the intended date of joining. Minimum – 8 months prior to the intended semester of enrollment.
